Steven Bidwell is a veteran stage performer whose 30-year medical journey with tongue cancer began at age 26. At a time when tongue cancer was rarely seen in young adults, Steven became an 'outlier' in the healthcare system—a role he has navigated through five separate diagnoses while maintaining a prolific career on national Broadway tours, regional theatre, and small film and tv appearances. Not only has Steven navigated five separate diagnoses of tongue cancer he has also been dealing with a diagnosis of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), all while maintaining his professional instrument and a prolific acting career.

His medical journey is a cross-continental odyssey. From his first diagnosis at age 26 while working at Walt Disney World, to treatments in Vancouver, New York Presbyterian, and finally Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Steven has a unique, bird’s-eye view of the world’s leading healthcare systems.

Today, Steven is pivoting from the stage to the clinic. As a hopeful future Speech-Language Pathologist, he bridges the gap between clinical outcomes and the human spirit, teaching healthcare providers that recovery is a lifelong rehearsal, not just a final curtain call.
